Are chips not made on Earth? UK ForgeStar-1 will use vacuum and low temperature to manufacture cutting-edge semiconductors

In a landmark mission, the ForgeStar-1 satellite of the British new creation company Space Forge was successfully launched, becoming the first satellite in the UK to be manufactured in space. The launch was accomplished through SpaceX's Transporter-14 mission, and the goal of ForgeStar-1 is to produce semiconductors using the unique environment of low-Earth Tracks that will be used for data centers, quantum computing and military applications.
The design and construction of theForgeStar-1 satellite was completed in Wales Cardeif, and this technical achievement marks the beginning of space manufacturing. "We have built and launched the UK's first satellite manufacturing, a huge technical achievement. Next, our mission is to prove that we can create a space-made environment."
This satellite will be semiconductor-made in space, using microgravity, vacuum and ultra-low temperature conditions that cannot be realized on Earth. Space Forge plans to use "crystal seeds from space" to promote crystal growth, and manufacture it through infinite vacuum and extremely low temperature environments in space, and finally send the chip back to Earth for packaging. Although ForgeStar-1 will not bring the manufactured goods back to Earth, it will serve as a practical platform to test key technologies for space manufacturing.
In the future, Space Forge plans to launch ForgeStar-2, which will be the first satellite that can safely bring semiconductors back to Earth. The company predicts to launch 10 to 12 satellites a year, and finally more than 100 launches per year. This series of developments will make space manufacturing an important component of the semiconductor supply chain and may significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
With the rise of space manufacturing, this technology will not only promote changes in the semiconductor industry, but will also have a profound impact on areas such as clean energy, national defense and quantum computing. This innovation at Space Forge is a sign of the beginning of a new industrial revolution in materials science and manufacturing.
