Renierdo joins Sunderland, Mozambique becomes the 127th country and region with Premier League players

Sunderland signed Renildo and he will become the first Mozambique player to play in the Premier League. So far, Mozambique has become the 127th country and region to have Premier League players.

The last country to join the roster was Uzbekistan in January, when Husanov transferred to Manchester City and made his debut.

There were players from two other countries making their debut in the Premier League last season: Iraq (Ali Hamadi played for Ipswich) and Bangladesh (Leicester City player Choudhury was approved by FIFA to play for Bangladesh in the adult national team, who had previously played for England's U21).

Some well-known countries that have not yet had Premier League players include India, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Thailand.

There are 19 countries with only one Premier League player to date, and with Renierdo joining, that number will increase to 20.

In the Premier League, there are the most players from England, with 1,736. The second is France 242, Scotland 218, Ireland 209, Spain 172, Netherlands 155, Wales 135 and Brazil 125.

There are 48 different European countries and regions who have had Premier League players, while 33 different countries and regions in Africa have had Premier League players. Next is North America (19), then South America (12), Asia (12), and Oceania (2).
